Best Bits: October

Best Bits is my opportunity to share with you all the things I have been loving and the highlights of my month.

October was hectic to say the least! As you may have noticed, my last post was my September Best Bits. October included a trip to Wellington as well as the last two weeks of university lectures, lots of assignments, study week and an exam. So unfortunately blogging took a back seat, but now I am finished university for the year!

Best Blog Post Read:

I’m always reading travel blogs and this month I particularly enjoyed what Adventurous Kate had to say about her nomadic life and the strain it has on relationships.

Best Day:

Going to the World of Wearable Arts show in Wellington and it was incredible. I also managed to buy two pairs of shoes in 24 hours….

Best Meal:

French Toast at Caffe Mode in Kelburn Village, just up the road from my old flat.

Best New Find:

So happy with my new Italian leather silver brogues (see below) that I picked up in Wellington at a Shoe Connection sale for less than half price. I also got a great dress from Recycle Boutique.

Best Photo:

Best Recipe:

With the help of my friend Halana I made an awesome mushroom pasta. I used this recipe from The Kitchn, but added cooked chicken breast as well. I was finding it hard to find a recipe without cream in it, but this one was perfect.

Best Song:

I’ve been really enjoying Fall Out Boy’s song Uma Thurman, I find it so energising on my walk to work.

Best Thing Watched:

I’ve seen it before but not for a long time, so I rewatched Lilo and Stitch and absolutely loved it. I love the music and the art so much, it’s probably one of my favourite Disney films.

Bonus Best Bit:

I can’t go without mentioning the awesome day I had at UC’s Tea Party, a big end of year party with drinking from 9:30am…

Whilst the university side of October was insane, there were still a lot of highlights. November is shaping up to be an awesome month; the All Blacks have already won the World Cup, I headed up to Auckland this week for a holiday and to see Hozier and Mumford and Sons and three of my favourite people in the world are coming home from around the country/world and that excites me a lot.

I hope you all had a wonderful October,
